In the framework of Cultura Resident, we developed a five-month artistic and cultural mediation residency at the Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània. During this process, we investigated the physical and poetic aspects of corporeality as well as its relationship with other bodies and with public space.
Our bodies are always situated, which means that working with them implies interacting with the environment in which we are immersed.
To this end, we developed Lea las instrucciones y consulte a su cuerpo, a device for collective body activation and exploration, co-created with an intergenerational group of participants. It consists of a space-time suitable for experimenting and exposing oneself to others in a safe, playful, and healthy way, enabling new forms of coexistence. Is made up of a user’s manual and instructions, which adopt a technical language to generate a fictional imaginary. In these sessions, it became important to lend oneself to doing something unusual (receiving an instruction and trying it out) as well as consulting the body, that is, asking oneself, "Can I do this? Does it bother me? Does it amuse me?" Finally, it worked as an invitation to immerse ourselves in the realm of sensitive experience in order to learn collectively and incorporate bodily knowledge. Our aim was to generate experiences to redefine the meaning of relationships from affective and sensitive bodies, while also seeking to intervene in the habitual uses of public space in the city and in the relationships that this space promotes.
